The Essence Of The Incense®

What Is Palo Santo Used For?

It’s wood from a tree called Bursera Graveolens. The Palo Santo ritual comes from Incan tradition that says the smoke from the wood, burned during spiritual ceremonies and rituals, is medicinal. Used as incense smudging by our ancestors to expel negative energies and attract positive vibrations. Shamans believed burning Palo Santo had similar properties capable of resetting energy that was tainted by negativity or conflict.

What Are The Benefits of Palo Santo?

Many people find the aroma of palo santo relaxing, so it’s commonly used to ease stress. Typically, palo santo incense is used during aromatherapy. This method is often used while doing yoga, meditating, or performing other stress-relieving activities. It’s thought to have a purifying, cleansing effect on the body and mind. Purifies the environments, in addition to scenting them. Ancient belief says it even has the power to attract sacredness and benevolence to a space.

How To Burn Palo Santo Sticks?

Set your intention. Turn it horizontally and light it with a match or lighter. There are times that Palo Santo will take time to burn. Once lit, let it burn until you see its resin bubble for about 30 seconds and blow to release its ritualistic smoke. Smudge around your own body, every corner of your home or office before circling the entryways and windows with intention.

Sustainability In Our Hearts

At Enu we only use sustainably sourced Palo Santo wood. Our Peruvian partners only harvest wood snags that have died naturally, and have been dead for at least 4-5 years. We never harm living trees! The dead, dried wood is collected, cleaned and hand cut. In addition, we are committed to reforestation of our sacred wood. This ensures that our Peruvian forests are not susceptible to over-harvesting.

Giving Back To Our People

Your purchase supports the livelihoods of artisans in marginalized areas of Peru whose handcrafting is their only source of income, while preserving exquisite Peruvian craft traditions passed down through generations. Enu has partnered with hand-crafters in Peru, providing long-term fair trading partnerships.
